This week at Kelly's Korner she is hosting show us you life kids names. I haven't done one of these in a while but decided to participate so one day the boys can read about where we got their names.
When we first found out we were expecting, we started talking about names.
When we first found out we were expecting, we started talking about names.
I love names but was also teaching at the time, so I had plenty of "no way" names.
Since our last name is "Yarbrough," we decided the name chosen needed to be short and different so they could just go by one name with no initial or period.
My husband's name is Jason and he was always known as Jason Y. all through school.

We also wanted to use a family name but not necessarily call the baby that name.
We didn't find out what we were having so we had names picked out for both.
Our first child was a boy, born December 27, 2004.
We named him Roman Brooks and call him Rome.
Jason came up with the name Roman and we always knew we would call him Rome as a little boy.

I had taught a boy named Rome and loved it because it was so different.
I was named after my maternal grandfather, Brooks, so we decided to use that with the name Roman.
The girl name we had picked out was Turner Ellen. Turner is my mother's maiden name and Ellen because Jason's mother is Jo Ellen.
We were going to call her Turner.
Lucky for us he was a boy because I had no idea who Handy Manny even was or that he had a tool named Turner.

We found out we were expecting again in December 2006.
We had a miscarriage in January.
We really hadn't started talking about names because it was so early, but we were still devastated with the miscarriage.
Shortly after we found out we were expecting again.
We were so thankful that we were able to get pregnant so quickly and the search was on for another perfect name.
My husband played basketball and still follows it.
He came up with the name Nash, after Steve Nash who plays for the Phoenix Suns.
We went back and forth for a while trying to decide and still weren't certain of a middle name.
We wanted to use a family name but didn't know which one.
We were considering Nash Turner or Nash Evans.
When I went into labor earlier than expected, we discussed it on the way to the hospital.
Our second son was born November 27, 2007.
Jason filled out the information after he was born and chose Nash Evans
I still loved the name Turner but we had changed our girl name to Pride Turner and we were going to call her Pride.
One of my best friend in elementary school was named Pride
I have always loved the name but hadn't thought about her in years.
We couldn't call our daughter Turner and have her be teased about being one of Manny's tools.

Jason loves UFC fighting and there was a division/organization that was named Pride.
One day he was watching it on TV and I told him I loved the name and that if the baby was a girl I wanted to name her Pride.
Please feel free to use my girl names!
There won't be any more little ones to name at our house!
