Genius...

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

I did not just do a whole post about Potty Training Boot Camp, Not me!
Even if I did, I surely didn't link it to McMama and her Not Me, Monday! blog carnival. No way, not me!

This is Not the post praising Mama Llama!

Mama Llama you are a genius!
You should seriously bottle this information up and sell it.
I will become your top-salesperson because positive experience sells!

I started working with Nash on potty training the middle of April but we were having some issues. I found the miracle worker "Mama Llama" and decided to do her Potty Training Boot Camp. As of Saturday, May 1, 2010, I put Nash back in diapers and/or pull-ups and would not let him wear his underwear. I followed Mama Llama's steps starting with #3. Since I had already basically done her first 2 steps I felt comfortable jumping to step #3. We marked the day on our calendar and I proceeded to boot camp Nash.

Here are the last of Nash's diapers complete with his note to Jonah.

Our day began with Capri-Sun and Pedialyte.

His reward for being dry was his all time favorite Cheetos. About one hours into the practice/training, he had figured out that when he was dry, he got some Cheetos so he started bringing me his bowl and saying, "I dry - more Cheetos, peeeeze."

As soon as he tee-teed in the potty, for the first time, I loaded him up and we went to Walmart so he could pick out his potty prize.  He chose this "Dinoco-Tex" that changes colors. He was soooo proud and told everyone at Walmart that he tee-teed in the potty.

Each time he tee-teed in the potty, we put a sticker on the calendar. I let him choose his sticker and he also put one on his shirt. This is what it looked like at the end of the day.

We made this list of everyone he knew that uses the potty. He was so proud that we got to add his name to it!

Nash didn't get on the potty in time the first day to poo-poo but he did make it to the bathroom. The next day he made it in time and successfully poo-pooed. We loaded up again and went to Wal-Mart for his poo-poo prize. He chose a monster truck and once again shouted from the buggy his accomplishment!

Nash is potty trained - he has only been wet one day when he got up from his nap. He is still wearing a pull-up at night and I feel like he will need it for a while. He tells us when he needs to go, even without me asking. More importantly, he is poo-pooing in the potty. Those of you who are mom's know that joy!!

He is so proud of himself and a week later still says "WOO-HOO, I DID IT!!" every single time he goes.

I told Jason the other day that I always do a pretty good job of keeping up with the "firsts" with our boys(sitting, crawling, walking, talking, etc...) but never even realize the "lasts" until they are gone.
The end of the diaper bag era left in a flash as Nash became Potty trained.

When I got in the car and realized that I didn't have the diaper bag or need it I was just a little bit sad.

My baby is definitely growing up but I plan to hold onto him as long as I can.

  1. SO exciting! Doesn't it feel great? Doesn't it seem like light years ago that he wore diapers? Always a good idea with new places/ activities to keep a spare set of shorts/undies with you or in the car.

SO glad it worked well for you! Thanks for passing it along to others!
